Need opinions please

Need some help on figuring out what I need to replace. I don't know enough about cranks to figure out if this one needs to be replaced.

Why is the engine apart? is it full of shrapnel?check for play in the rod bearing. up and down cant have any and side to side has a some. if you can see pitting in the bearings they need replaced.

I blew the top end.

side to side play is not as important at the bottom as it is the top.
push the top of the rod to the left and then pull it to the right and neasure the movement...
next lift the rod up and down and listen and feel for any up and down movement if there is any the rod/bearing will need to be replaced.
measure the inside diameter of the small end of the connecting rod

Also I can't get the pin out of the piston to remove it from the crank.

hope thats not shrapnel all over the motor if so u have more problems
