Need help on 2000 blaster - backfiring, high idle, choke required to run

it looks like the top cover is not screwed on properly?
over flow hose should point towards the ground
locking tab for top cover is missing..
but that top cover is not screwed on right??? or at least in pic it looks like that
are you sure the slide is aligned up with notch on carb?

those cylinder base nuts are not stock /hopefully they are a good quality
main jet is to small....

Good eye. I'm not sure - I'll have to check this out.

Agreed - so yesterday I ordered:
GENUINE Mikuni Pilot jet size 32.5 ( M28/1001)
GENUINE Mikuni main jet size 260 HEX ( 4/042)

And for the leaking exhaust flange, I ordered some Permatex 81878 Ultra Copper Maximum Temperature RTV.

I should have these parts in for the weekend and will update again once I get 'em in.
