kx 250 please help me figure out year model

i purchased this a few days ago from some kid said it was a 95 got it home started messin with it tryin to order parts, and figure out what year it was, couldnt find the vin because he had repainted it, and some reason kawa only stamps vin into paint, not deep enough to get to the steel frame. the kid said it was a 95, but i think its a 88....

anyone have any experience with these....? this is my first kawa im excited but cant figure out year to order parts to get her running

88 have a separate gas tank cover, fariring.....95s have what looks like a 1 piece tank cover with both fairings attatched to it.

Can't remember if they are plated or not..... most bikes from 84-85 + are plated. If it isn't seized and its plated, just needs freshened up, you don't have to bore it just re-place the piston and go.

I don't think kawi ever changed the 500's from like 88ish until they stopped production in 06'. They all look the same.

im going with eric gorr big bore kit...seems most logical price wise.....500 for a big bore all work done gaskets piston...everything....or like about 4 something after sending it out to replating and new piston

Looks like a 92-93 straight fender on it though us kx500 guys have wet dreams over those.
