is brake fluid suppposed to lok like this?

after i finnaly got that screwed up screw out the old brake fluid looked like this?

does the cap mention DOT3-DOT4-or DOT5?

it menitions dot 4. i soaked and cleaned out the old brake fluid with a rag.
i refiled it with motorex dot 4 and damn it is good brake fluid! it almost threw me over the handlebars and i was on grass! it acts realy quick! refiled the rear brakes they improved only a little.

Sunlight ruins brake fluid. More than likely that was from years of the sun beating through the window.

Some brake fluid is that dark but most arnt. I would say you were due for a change. Dot4 or better is fine for ATV's you can run dot3 if your in a bind without a prob. All it is, is the heat resistance.
