im bout to mess with my stock exaust im am trying to cut off the piece when u take the tip off and the other piece comes out with it i was wondering if i cut that off and weld it back would i get any more power out of my stock exhaust. how many degrees it takes for metal to melt

Depends on the metal

If it's aluminum, forget it. With out the proper equipment it's not a DIY type of thing. Steel needs a couple 1000 degrees, oxy/act being the easiest way and cheapest. I make a living welding sheet, I'd say take it to someone. A muffler shop should be able to do it, if it's steel, in about 10 minutes. I won't get into the specifics and details, but, it sounds like this is new to you. I would advise against it. I didn't notice where you live, but, if you near Raleigh, NC bring it by, I can do whatever you want.
