My friend wanted to ride my blaster while his quad was cooling. He tried to jump start it going down a big hill because hes not strong enough to use kick starter. He tried to pop it in first gear going about 30mph and now the engine wont start. Im not even sure what to look at and i need to get the quad running so i can sell it. It is a 2006 blaster. The oil injection didnt work so it has been off for along time and i mix the gas but that is not the problem. My friend said the quad was able to start then died. I think he let go of the clutch going 35mph in first gear because I could see him stow down a lot. Could he have messed up anything by dropping to first gear going that fast?

Lmfao Change the plug and kick it lol
Why are you trying to bump start it with a kicker on it ?
Or you could try getting someone with some more muscle to try
Also how old is the gas in it ?

I'd try a new plug first, then move on to checking the reeds and the woodruff key that holds the flywheel in timing.

I second the woodruff key, especially bump starting it in 1st at that speed.
Although, that being said, how difficult is it to kick normally?

Thanks for the help the plug is fine and its making good spark. The quad was never easy to start with the kickstarter so he decided to jump start it. The gas was drained from the carb over the winter and the gas was put in it brand new with brand new 2 stroke oil 50:1mix.

Thanks for the help. it is very hard to start when the engine is cold so it is bump started quite often.

Not good, and probably led to low compression that is hampering kick starting it.
these blasters have proven to like, and last, with 32:1 mix with an oil formulated for air cooled engines .... no chainsaw, weedeater, boat, 7-11, or sex shop oils
Maxima Super M (mix formula) has worked well for me

other areas to look for hard starting besides low compression ... dirty air filter, airscrew setting, dirty pilot jet, cracked chipped or weak reeds, weak spark, bad plug boot, flywheel woodruff key.

32:1 is what these air cooled engines like
was it jetted when it went from injection to mix ?
what jetting is in it now ?

At 50:1 it will run richer than at 32:1.. You need to get your ratio right at 32 then you can start jetting.some people change ratios to compensate for jetting which is wrong
