float level

pull the carb, then the bowl, remove gasket, get a mm measuring tape/stick, tilt the carb till the float "tab" just touched the center pin of the float vale, but doesnt push it in, should be like a 45 degree angle
measure from where the gasket sat, to the highest point on the float, should be
20 - 21.5 mm
if its outta spec, use a little flat screwdriver to bend the tab accordingly to adjust it into spec range, remaesure

edit: full write up with pics........

Reactions: super noober
hold the carb with the float pivot pin at the top, tilt it just enuf to get the floats to just touch the pin, not compress it

you can try to convert the mm to fractions of an inch, or just go get a cheap ruler from wally world......

take the carb off of the bike and where the float actually attaches to the carb should be facing up.

ok im tryen to set my float level using racers method taking screws out of bowl and holding carb and bowl in my hand and filling bowl up with gas then disconecting tryen to get bowl atleast half full, what in bowl is half full? is there a measurement i can do? what is too much? can someone please describe how to do this in more detail, or maybe pics? thanks

alas....there is another way, take off the drain tube, attach a longer clear one that will sweep upwards right beside the carb bowl, at least to the cap, open the drain, and it should equalize out and show exactly how much fuel is in the bowl
but you'll still need to open it to adjust, then the measurement would be better

LMAO I love it pictures didnt even help. Buy them books send them to school and still dont learn things, so we have to go pictures and it still doesnt help.

my carb dosent look anything like that, im pretty sure i have a stock carb, are the measurment from base to top of float still gona be the same, i dont see how thats possible if i have a diff carb than you

correct, thats a different carb, but the measuring method is the same, and i gave you the measurements above, 20 - 21.5 mm from where the gasket would sit to the top of the floats

better yet, bring that thing to busco beach nc. over the weekend, and i'll just do it for you, it'd be quicker that way < not the bike, my time

ok,, just making sure,,,, because im almost positive i have float level correct but i still havent fixed my problem, guess it wasnt the float level

starts bogging when get to operating temp, if you dont mind, read my post(please help) should be a couple below this one, i sure could use some help, im bout ready to use it as a target for my 12gauge

bogging at oprating temps sounds like float level to me, try adjusting them for less fuel, i've heard of floats gettin a crack in them, fill with fuel and not work properly?????

Thanks for the help awk. I'm gonna adjust the first chance I get. Mine runs fine but dripps a little fuel every minute or so. Your a big help awk, I'll rep you if I can.
