If you're wordering why the bead is all colorful and shiny, its cause we ran out
Of er70s2 rod so I jus used some 308L stainless filler rod lol

If any of you guys do a lot of tigwelding , then the tig finger heat shield is WELL WORTH the $ imo

Well that's about all the pictures I got for now lol.

Very good looking bead on the vertical up in pic 6, but you need to linger longer as it looks like there is quite a lot of undercut.

Show me the back side as that is where the strength is with the penetrarion.

Thanks! I know exactly what you mean, my first mistake was grinding a v groove in 10ga sheet metal, suppost to be a square groove butt joint. I was also using 1/16 diameter filler rod, technically too small for a single pass on 10ga but we were out of 3/32. You're exactly right if I wouldve left the filler in the puddle longer, i probably wouldve avoided undercut. I forgot to get a pic of the penetration, I will forsure do somemore tig welds and get more pictures this coming weekI:I

Bear in mind that no matter how good the penetration is, a little undercut is where the joint will fail.

Just a little more practice and as you have got the weave perfected you will turn out a great weld.

I worked in the store , so I had 17 years worth of experience on the supplies, experienced all the students problems and watched the fixes.

Theory was available from course notes.

I practiced all the demos that the instructor did in my breaks, and became quite a proficient welder.
