My 01 Blaster was running fine when I got it a couple months ago and now it barely starts after trying forever. I have to give it a lot of throttle to get it started and when it is I can't let off the gas or it dies. Even when I shift now I have to be quick so it doesn't die. I rode it in soft sand for a few miles before it started acting up so is it probably my carb? Maybe just my filter? I have a Uni with open airbox. HELP PLEASE!!!!!

Pretty much. I have to open it all the way and kick it over 100 times, but once it's started I can just hold the throttle a bit to where it should be close to idle. I don't have to keep it WOT. I'm sure I have to flip the throttle every so often, I haven't timed how long it stays started with just a touch. It's almost like it's cold, but never warms up.

100 times was an over kill. I just meant I have to kick it a lot. Once it's started and dies it'll start up on 1 or 2 kicks with throttle. What should my compression be? My jetskis are all between 155psi and 185psi. I'm following the link right now also, it's long!!!!!!

Ok, and since it's a kick start I just take the plug out and hokk up my tester and kick away or what? Sorry if that's a stupid question, but I'm used to jetskis with a start button. I read on my jetski forum one time that 90psi was good, but maybe that was good for another quad. Fuel+spark+compression is what's needed to start anything.

Yeah if I kick away and hold it WOT it starts, but won't idle even after it's warm. I've turned the gas to burn it all out of the carb too. Should I keep kicking with no gas? I'm gonna try to just unplug the tors and take my filter off just to see how it starts and clean my filter. If my compression's good it has to be a carb issue of some sort right? Dirty carb/bad tors/dirty filter not letting air through/needle settings?

sounds like ya got her figured out now get busy ....lol

Well I don't think it's gonna start. Disconnected the tors, checked spark (good), checked compression (bad) 50psi. I bet all that sand without paddles killd my topend. Might as well bore it down now huh? Thanks guys.

I found a Vito's cast big bore piston kit for $110 shipped, is that good or too high? Does anyone have any links to a how to thread stating all the tools and steps I need?
