South west of pittsburgh.
I don't feel like prying into lost threads looking for info. But my carrier was howling pretty bad and there is play in the axle and I figured the bearings are toast. But can I replace the bearings or is my races most likely ruined? I haven't got it apart yet but just wondering if anyone has smoked carrier bearings pretty bad before and if they were forced to buy a new one?

Replace bearings. It's pretty easy you can also get new bearings pretty cheap 20 25 bucks. You should be just fine lol no harm just replace the bearings.

Id examine the races. I know on cars they press in and are pretty cheap. If it were me id splurg and by new bearings which should come with races instead of trying to reassemble!

Just replace them. For the cost of new ones (especially at only $20...) there is no point in reusing the old ones considering the work involved to get to that point.

If they were anything like mine, they're not serviceable and wrecked anyways.
