it runs but wont idle and i can make it rev up as high as it can in neutral but when i put it in gear and go it will only rev up half way even full throttle, the tors has already been disconnected but im not sure, do you connect the loose wires together or do you leave them seperate, its has a new top end , and full fmf exaust ( expansion chamber and silencer) ive already checked the reeds they're fine spark blug is also fine
 
disconnect the "tors brain" under the hood. no connecting wires on pre 03's

change the plug, you cannot see if it's fouled.

has it been leakdown tested and proven airtight ?

should be around a 270-290 main,
needle in the middle clip, stock 32.5 pilot

Has it been heat cycled and re tensioned before you rode it?

Do you religiosly warm up before riding?

What piston was used in the rebuild, cast or forged?

List all modifications. Can you list the carb jetting and settings? Is the carb sparkling clean? Did this problem develope suddenly, over a period of time, or since first kick of rebuild??

i got this on a trade and just got it yesterday, guy said he a new top end in it so just to be sure i took it apart and looked at it and it is a brand new piston, and ingraved on the piston it says 0.50 i measured the carb and its 28mm, mods that i can see are fmf expansion chamber, fmf silencer, the new gaskets are green (i saw somewhere on here that gasket colors tell you something idk), the new piston. and a moose air filter, i have the air/fuel mixture screw turn 1.5 turns out right now (runs at its best) and i took the tors completely off
 
Green paper gaskets are a curse, they can leak, before you put it back together replace them with OEM or Cometic.

Get a look at the main jet, it should be around a #270 to #280 with the airbox lid on, #290 to #300 with it off.

Leak test before starting again.
 
went out and bought new moose gaskets and put them on and made sure EVERYTHING was clean and perfect but its still doing the same thing
its acting like its hitting a rev limiter or somthing
