blaster ticking/ knocking

premium should be perfectly fine unless you are running a milled head and the compression is too high causing pre-deflagration.....like mine used to do when I was running 93 AND high compression. It shouldn't ping on fresh 93 on a stock head.

you guys have no idea what it could be with out tearing it down? if i tear it down can you give me any tips on what i should be looking for/ if i take the head and jug off to do top end will i be able to tell if the crank and/or bearings are bad with out tearing into the lower end?

yeah you will be able to grab the rod and move it, any up and down is bad, a little side to side is normal
 
yea i just got a piston and my top end done and it like almost clicks. i had it for 2 years now and it has done that for since i got it. is that normal or what. im at school and my school blocks youtube. so i cant see the vids.
 
sounds like ya need a top end rebuild.. its pretty cheap for the kit and youll probably be able to do it yourself
 
I have a 1996 Yamaha blaster just had new piston wrist pin needle bearing put in. It had big bore kit with a 72.3 piston in it. Sounds exactly like this did you find out what your issue was?
