When I raise the front wheels off the ground, I dont really notice that much of a difference in resistance between turning the handlebars slow and fast. There is a noticeable difference between the settings though (the 7th setting being quite noticeable when turning slow).

This could very well be the case, when you heat metal it becomes brittle, you have to heat treat it by dipping it immediately in water (while its still cherry red), then you have to reheat to a blueish color and then cool it again with oil. This will keep the metal flexible, and strong.

Mounted the new streamline steering stabilizer on my GF's blaster: I live in a suburban neighbourhood, so what's a quick and easy way to test it? Go over a curb diagonally? Should I notice it working at all by just turning the handle bars quickly while not in motion?

The gf's blaster is stock except for a K&N filter with lid still on and no intention to take off, boyesen reeds, and fmf silencer (stock pipe). The stock carb is currently running a 237 main (never knew they incremented like that). Should I go up? The season riding temperature will be 15-28c...

If you zip-tied your throttle cable to the crossbar then you would get the opposite wouldn't you? If you crank the bars and the rubber portion cant migrate with it but the inner cable can, then that's when you would have surges. No? Or is the idea that all the cable slack is supposed to be...
