How To Remove Your TORS (88-02 models)

I read it sevral times and have not found my anwser..All you have said was it helps the reliabilty and cleans up the look of the quad.. But that doesnt fully anwser my question..When you say reliabilty? I want to know how the TORS would throw the "reliability" of the quad off? Like Is there need for the idle screw to be adjusted more than it should be? Does it affect the tuning of the quad.. I was looking for a more detailed anwser in which way the TORS affects the carb itself..since all of you agree that its sh*t..I just would like to know exactly why its sh*t..

Thanks..

TORS stands for throttle override system. It is designed to shut off fuel flow if the carb gets stuck open. It can malfunction very easily wether it be from water or bad wires or whatever. When it malfunctions it thinks that the carb is stuck open and therefore is supposed to shut off the fuel flow by closing the slides. What holds the slides open is your idle setting which is why they can affect eachother. The reason It can affect your idle is because the TORS housing also is the idle housing. So if you cut the TORS wire it COULD change your idle a little bit. The TORS in my opinion is just a way of yamaha getting out of some lawsuits. Even though it doesnt work they can say they tried. If you have any more questions, fire away.

is there a tors brain on an 2006 blaster?.... btw solovrt i was riding in the woods n the tors went on me, n i was stuck. luckily my dad was there with me, so we basicly i hung over the handlebars n grabbed onto my dad's grab bar as he pulled me home so deff remove it

I think I answered all those questions thought AOL IM. If anyone has any more fire away.

The new screw you get is NOT a fuel/air mixture screw. It is your new idle adjustment that sets the RPM's when the bike is idle. You have to drill out the middle of one of the tubes that sticks out and tap it.

Thanks for the great info and write up .

Middle of one of those tubes is too small for the idle screw that came in the kit. Is there any spot specificly that gets drilled out? Pictures would help.

Instructions are Perfect!!!

I just did mine .took 20 minutes (including taping and cable tying all the disconnected cannon plugs). I cut the switch wire to the thottle housing, ,easily reconnected if i ever want to hook it back up: NOT

Pics to follow later, thanks to the smart guy who initiated this threadI:II:II:II:I
