I bought a blaster the other day and when I got it he said that it was completely bored out and couldn't be bored anymore and that he just rebuilt the engine well I hopped on and it was severely underpowered and barely moved and wouldn't rev up at all it started revving up when u turned off the gad and got only a little in the carb????Also the stock spark plug is to small for the hole so what size spark plug do I need

Firstly- Welcome to the forum.

NKS br8es spark plug - if the spark plug was too small, i doubt it would run at all.

sounds like you need to clean the carb and petcock on the fuel tank.
turning off the gas will run the carb low on fuel which in turn gives you the "idea" of it idling better when really its starving the engine and causing a lean condition

you still bought it after you hopped on and it ran like crap?

Oh I thought the original plug was d8ea and alright thanks could ya tell me what size gap its supposed to be and he gave it to me for a great price

And the carb was just rebuilt and the petcock is brand new when you put it in gear it barely moves and then when you turn the gas off when your moving it starts going faster

Maybe it's jetted wrong. What are the mods and what jet sizes? Maybe the float could be off too and that's why when the gas is off it runs better because the fuel is at the right level

Do not turn off the gas again. It's not good for the engine. It probably has a huge jet from a jet kit and thats why it runs poorly.

With gas on, crack the fuel drain on the carb. Should have steady flow. Open it for 5 seconds.

If you didn't put in the jet, I wouldn't trust the PO. Check it.

Also being that it can't be bored any larger probably means if you blow it up you need a new cylinder. 99% chances are it's at 68mm which give you a whopping 204cc blaster. Not something to be happy about as the next rebuild means new sleeve or cylinder

It has a new head guy said it is somewhere close to a 266 and I just tryed it and it worked fine

You can pull the head off and measure and then we all know the exact size.

What works? Opening fuel drain?

Post a picture of the carb side of the engine. If it has a different head we can identify it. Also carb reeds and other parts we should know about

Do you have a clean air filter?

There is no way that it is a 266. The guy doesn't know how to calculate the engine size. A big bore with a stroker crank won't even get you all the way to a 266. You are at a 204 max like they said before

The head looks stock and the guy seemed pretty dumb and ya the air cleaner is brand new but does it run sh*tty when the spark plug gap is wrong

If it runs better with the gas off then your obviously getting either too much gas or too little air. So it should be too big of jetting, or choked up air flow somewhere. Not sure what it would run like with bad spark
