so i was kinda just cruising around the other day, i wasnt riding hard or beating on it and all of a sudden it just sorta bogged out. but since i wasnt supposed to be riding in the area i was at i pusshed it into the woods real quick for a closer inspection. i tried to start it and it kicked over after about 5-6 kicks but then i heard metal clinging-clanging around, i killed the engine and looked at my motor and noticed my exhaust was loose so i hand tightened the olts a best as i could and started it up again (i thought the metal noise was my head pipe vibrating around on top of my head and making tht noise. so it started up and ran like sh*t. i killed the engine and pushed it home! once i figured out it wasnt a carb/jetting problem i looked at my VF3 reeds i just installed last week, of course they were not the problem either... so then i looked into my intake port to find out my piston broke apart. i took the motor apart today and thankfully my sleeve is fine, i checked the bottom of my case and couldnt find any damage or cacks at all. looks like all i need is a new piston & rings. looks like its time to install my +3 crank and fix a few tiny things while the motor is off why would my piston break apart like that though? ive never had this happen to me.... here are some pics i took below
