I need to fill my trans and i'm seeing who suggests what.

i'm looking to go cheap but not stupid cheap and screw something up.

your trans oil is the same oil that makes your clutch lubracated

the yfz is the only quad that doesnt mix the trans oil with the clutch oil

if that makes sence

I think this has been said before, but, do not use automotive grade trans oil, knowing that makes it easier and less confusing, i guess

and I run 10w 30 trans oil...........and I need to get my hands on some yamalube!

will normal 10w-30 oil work like the kind you buy at a gas station?

if its suposed to me 10w-30 why the hell is my local yamaha dealer selling me 85w gear saver? iv been runnning it though and havent seen any differnces, so it must not be to bad! but it is probally better in the summer when its alot hotter!

you won't notice a difference with regular oil, UNTIL your clutch stops working.

so, use WET-CLUTCH oil....

do not use oil with detergents or friction modifiers.

i use royal purple 10w30 (designed for wet-clutch)

and YES 10w30 is what yamaha recommends.

but, to each his own.... so good luck.

ive always used honda hp 80/85w trans oil, ive never had a problem with it and use it in my yz 250 also. i wonse tried supertech 75w-140 gear oil from wal mart cus i was desperate for the weekend and my clutch on my 250 felt like garbage when hot, but soon as i changed it all is good.
