i have a second bottom end i am going to rebuild as a back up motor.i have finally got the cases split and currently trying to get the transmission out to replace all bearings and seals..i looked at the clymer book and it shows how but i still cant figure it out..i see the two dowel pins that hold the shift forks in.the one small pin that holds fork #2 comes right out.its the long pin that doesn't.it slides a little but doesn't come out is there a trick or am i missing something..thanks everyone..oh yea i have all the proper tools to do this.

my finger is on the pin i cannot get out

That shaft has a clip on the side that you can't see. Pull everything (pins, cam, forks, and shafts) out at the same time.

ken i finally got it out..i saw videos that show the clip on the outside..thats why i could not figure it out there was no clip there..when i got the gears out the clip was behind the gears on the inside.why was that?another good reason to always go through the motor for this reason
