too much gas

possibly could be float adjustment. or trash in the needle and seat, also the needle and seat could be worn out. there are how to's in the diy section for all those fixes
 
Sometimes tangs get to look like this and cause problems.

you don't just "play with the tang" it must be adjusted then measured for proper operation,

stock carb is 20-21.5 mm, measured like this.......

ok well i broke the overflow tube cause i thought it was bent over or something. i thought it might be causing problems, the bowl was hard to put back on. well i have a 30 mm oko flat side carb and it is a lil different from the one in the pic. does it matter or do all the floats measure out to that? and my tang does not look like that
 
all carbs have a different float measurement
google "30mm oko float setting"
