I am the newby that was working on what i thought was an 1988 yamaha blaster. I ran the vin and found that it is a 1996 blaster. Also i had a few problems with the quad not wanting to idle. Well thanks to all the help it now starts first kick everytime. The air adjustment on the carb was backed all the way out. so from reading your tips i turned it in all the way and backed it out 1 and a half turns. I also turned up the idle two turns idles fine not to high and starts first kick every time now. even cold!!! Thank you all for all your help. sonny73

thats great to hear bro, a newby who finally read up before askin the same questions over and over, also that the bike is runnin great now, and cant beat the 96 instead of 88 deal,
it wouldnt happen to be the purple and black 96??? < had one back in 96
