*Sigh* Will this need a rebuild?

So, this is what '94's bottom end looks like. There are bits of nature and some crud that fell off the top end in there. It looks like the assembly has some typical "1 year in a work shed exposed to the air" surface rust.

What should I do to clean this up?

I would say yes.
I would disassemble the lower end and inspect all the components, such as the crank/bearings etc.
My guess is that the main bearings are going to be pitted.

How does it rotate? Smooth, rough??

Get your wrenches out.

It's smooth, all of the stuff in it was after I pulled the top. I don't want to spin it now at risk of damaging undamaged parts, but when I pulled off the top and tried to remove the piston, the assembly was smooth.

I don't have photos of the top end, but there were light grooves. Nothing serious, the piston had a dent/pit on the bottom.

I took the top in last Monday, and I'm getting it this Monday or Tuesday.
