No you do not have to. Just the shifter, the clutch side cover, all parts of the clutch basket and the shift star tensioner. They can be a bear to get out depending how bent they are. Sometimes easier to cut it off close to the cases before pulling it out.
Clean the area well so you don't drag dirt into your engine . Wrap splines with one layer of masking tape to avoid any damage to seal. If you cut it, file burrs.
