I done a thread on here about putting a yz250f in my blaster and it was brilliant fun to ride until I siezed the motor.

I'm in the middle of upgrading from a YZ250F motor to a WR450F and I can't wait to see how it goes with some extra CC's.

I covered the issues with getting the YZF into a blaster on my other post so this will be just about any issues I'm having with making it to fit.

If anyone reading this is after a YZF250 motor I have one but is a basket case but 100% all there just has a siezed main bearing.

Also a full hydro front brake set/ hub set up off a 2005 blaster

Got the engine sat in there, the bottom end is pretty kuch the exact same size as the yz250f that cane out of it just different hole centres.

I hate cutting brackets off especially to remake nearly identical and the fact that the powder coating on this frame had only a few hours on it.

One main issue i now have is although the bottom end is nearly the same the top is wider and slightly taller which mean the fuel tank doesnt fit.

Im going to remake the blaster tank out of alloy just with a flat bottom

Hey I also have done this with a 99 blaster but I used a yz450f. Same motor just a little stronger and no lights. But things you might have problems with is the carb, it is big and bulky I had to cut out my rear shock mount and fab a new one. Also on mine the kick start will not go all the way with out grinding out the frame. I have hours and hours. Still not close to having it perfect yet. Hope you injoy it tho I love mine!

Yea i had that issue with the yz250f engine so thats one reason for the upgrade to the wr450f as it has electric start on it that and i siezed it. Ive cut the frame on for the carb on last motor so atleast i dont have to do that this time. Making the air box with the boot attached was the worst part. Ive got yz450f cams coming and having head machined to up compression a bit

Very nice build. Love the blue. Is it powder coated? And any other photos of the aluminum take? It looks mint.

Good stuff Jeff !
