HELP, Should there be any gas and or fluid in the stator?

noticed my stator cover was leaking and pulled it open to see gas inside it is this common or are there rings that have been worn out ?

stator side crank seal is shot and leaking out into the stator, it will also suck air in creating a lean condition and fry your top end.
I'd suggest not to run it again until you replace the crank seals (do the clutch side also, if ones bad, the other probably isn't far behind)
