Engine cases?

Hey, can only matching cases be used with one another? or can say a left side case from a motor, be used with a right side case from a different motor?

I ask this becuase I have two motors, one the shifter area is welded, and the other has jb weld all around the drain plug. I havent pulled them apart yet but i always hear how you cant do it but just wanted another opinion before i go through the effort and $.

yea you can use any case with eachother

you should be able to interchange them

They'll interchange but I would take them and have them matched up. I had to replace one of my cases before and there was .040 difference in the deck heights.

thanks, yea all I ever hear is that every block is cut in half and those cases are unique to one another.

they are not cut in half but they are bolted together and machined as one.

These guys on ebay trip me out selling the left and right sides seperately!!

Just buy new locating pins and bolt the cases together, torque them and check the deck and the crank bores line up
