I recently made a full frame skidplate and A-arm skids. I haven't finished cutting out the a-arms yet but will soon. I did however mount the main plate with self tappers. The plate was made from a piece of aluminum diamond plate I bought for bout $60. That was 1' x 4' and was big enough for the main plate and a-arm plates.

i dont thing the self tapers was a good idea...

He's right. Drilling holes in your frame weakens it and allows places for water to get in and start your frame to rust from the inside... Somepeople use Metal straps that are for hanging conduit, at least I think that's what there intended for

Thats kind of what is on this skid,,,which is for sale by the way. They wrap the frame with a rubber coating on it and a bolt goes through and into it.

These are kind of like conduit hangers, but they have a rubber coating on them. They came with the skid in the pic. Not sure where they are from or what, but the worked great for holding around the frame,,oh yeah its for sale too.
