This is a thread for a 2004 blaster we bought for my stepson for Christmas, it's a surprise so work is kind of slow going since I can't work on it while he is home. We paid $750 for it stock, except for the rear wheels and tires. Then bought a bunch of goodies for it, ac front bumper and nerf bars, dg rear grab bar and rear bumper, seat cover, itp t9 wheels, banshee rear hubs to run banshee wheels, new tires, bars and grips. I modified the plastics and plastidipped all the plastics matte black. Going for a monster energy black/green theme.

When we got it:

This is as of yesterday, powder coated the hubs and lugs matte black, got the wheels mounted. The grab bar and rear bumper we got were used and previously powder coated. i started doing the candy lime green powder, the chrome took well, but the root beer powder that was on it before bled through the candy lime I did, weird I never had that happen. so I went black, not thrilled and just texted the parts guy at the place I got the new parts from to get pricing on new grab bar and rear bumper B)
The front bumper, nerf bars and heel guards will be the candy lime green as well.

there is alot of bruising on those plastics, but looks solid for what you paid for it. what part of pa are you in?

Yeah they were stressed a lot but no cracks. The dip covers them well other than the heavy scratches. But I sanded and polished some with a torch before I dipped to help reduce the bad ones.

We are in northeast pa, Blakeslee by pocono raceway

i know blakeslee, i had a friend that had a house in the area, we used to ride traxx (jack frost) when they still had tracks there.

Haven't heard of that so must have been a while ago. , we are on rte 903 which takes you to big boulder. We can go out of our development and into trails, I take my golf cart down through there. But I do want to get a trailer to take the cart and the blaster once he has it to find more trails and such to ride at. There is a new place allied lost trails which is really nice but it's pretty expensive to go. $35 per person to ride per day. Or $550 for a yr season pass for the 5 of us, if we had the trailer then I could consider it more so we could go more.

thats really not a bad price. places in jersey charge $50 a day, plus you have to buy insurance from there for the year i think its around 200 a year for that.

i think traxx closed around 8 years ago. they had miles and miles of trails and 1 motocross track and 2 supercross

its looking nice. now just throw a shiny toomey pipe on there. i would also maybe teach him the basics of working on it? like troubleshooting and jetting

Yeah figure the exhaust and other things can come later as other holidays come.
He actually knows his way around the engines and carbs, his dad has been an ATV mechanic for 10 years or so and has had him working on things with him for a while now, but he lives in Florida. My stepson used to race for the shop team his dad works at years ago too.

lookin good so far !
thats gonna be one happy kid come the 25th :)

Looking good, someone will be happy for sure.

I see you have an oven in your garage. Do you do your own power coating? A-arms would look good kawi green. I ride through grass fields and corn fields with stubble, the paint on the a-arms never lasts.

Did you media blast the rims before power coating? Im lucky to live 3 mins away from a company that does professional coating and media blasting.

thanks guys! Yeah I do my own powder coating. I didn't blast the wheels before I powdered them, they were brand new, just scotch brighted and cleaned them afterward then powdered them. I do blast first when needed, I have a blast cabinet and a big outdoor blaster as well. I did blast the front hubs before the powder, the rear banshee hubs I just cleaned up since they were new as well as the lug nuts, those I did scuff. The green is candy lime green, it's transparent and needs to either go over chrome powder coat or over aluminum finish like the wheels were. The front bumper and nerf bars are aluminum as well so I'll just powder right over them. I ordered a new ac racing wide grab bar now too so I can powdermthat green and then just sell the black dg one on there now. I'm also looking to get a new rear bumper so I can do that in the green also. Then just sell the black dg rear bumper too. The black grab bar and rear bumper look good but I really wanted more of the green on it.

And we will do the suspension and frame eventually, just don't have the time to do it before Christmas for the surprise.
