1999 upgrade

Ok been a little bit since I been here. The blaster was almost done but I was waiting to weld up the rear brake setup. Well that’s all done. Here are the pics of that. If there is anyone interested in doing something similar with there cable brake blaster I do have patterns for the brackets and rear brake extension. You would need to do all your own tab cutting frame modding and welding but I think what I came up with is pretty close to a factory look.

I wasn’t happy with how the pedal extension was lining up. So played with a little heat and bent it a bit for better alignment. I had the master cylinder spaced out a bit with some washers but I didn’t like the look of that. Kind of hard to see in the pictures but here is the final result. Pedal needs to be repainted obviously yet.

I can’t believe how dead this forum is.
Everything is on Facebook Groups anymore.. Forums pretty much are just used to look upold info on problems and mods on stuff from the past that has happened.. As Forums are not vary active within the current age. Probably best to hit up some Blaster pages on FB.

So I have the 400 rear shock to do the upgrade and I finally got around to drilling out the lower Through holes for the 12mm bolt.. I have seen so many people say how it just slaps right on… yeah not the case for me.. the plastics are 1” off. Hitting the resi on the rear shock.. I would have to take the lid off air box and also chop out a section of the fender/air box for them to fit properly.. it almost looks like it would go into the area of the intake tube to carb where it meets and bolts to the airbox/fenders… how does everyone else’s fit bit mine is different?

Brake conversion looks good, I recently tried my hand at one with warrior parts, had a damaged frame laying around for the tabs, pretty much same concept as yours just has a warrior/raptor master mounting bolt style rather than the blaster, For the shock conversion most people don't use the stock air box lid, and yes it does require modding the plastics

Thanks Bruce.. I actually made these tabs by hand with an angle grinder and bench grinder. Just did a few mock-ups with cardboard templates and ran with it.

ok I was under the assumption that the 400 shock fir without modification to the plastics.. I am not going to go that route. I will be searching for a aftermarket rear for the blaster.

Ok just gotta ask this question.. I have read plenty on this 400 rear shock upgrade…. The 400 shock is made for a linkage of sorts with a bushing and sleeve.. the 400 shock does not fit well in the swingarm tabs.. are people running som escort of home made spacer kit or just letting the shock slide around as it pleases.. I’m just trying to clear the air on this so called upgrade that people like to say just fits right in after drilling the hole…..

I just feel it’s a terrible fit… the 400 shock should have a spacer made for each side to center in the tabs. As well as bushing and sleeve made for the shock itself..

Just want to get some input because I see so many people throwing around this advise.. and I wouldn’t advise anyone to do it unless they have access to equipment to make these other parts. I have access to equipment and still don’t like the idea and am scrapping it all together.

If anyone needs a nice 400 shock with the kor bushings and the lower already drilled to 12mm let me know I have one.
