From what I've read, I shouldn't have problems using a new style motor(05) with an old harness and CDI, right?

I just ground the green wire and hook up everything else, right?

Thanks in advance for your help!

It's not as simple as I thought. The colors don't match up to plug the old harness into the new stator.

Can someone help me out with what to connect where? I tried to read the wiring diagrams but everything I found was too blurry to see the color codes.

Pics are attached. I know the Orange is to the ignition for spark and the black is ground/green is ground. Other than that I only have guesses. Thanks a ton!

So on the pre 02' harness, the white/red, and the black/red goes to the CDI box. My question is, on the 04' stator, what goes to those two colors leading to the CDI?

I answered my own question, I swear they were different colors when I was up late last night staring at them. Must've been dilusional! Lol! Thanks anyways guys

the difference between the years is the cdi/and stator.
the 03-06 cdi has the tors built into it.
the 88-02 does not./it has a separate tors brain
4 wires on a 88-02
5 wires on the 03-06
when people buy aftermarket stators they come as 5 wires so that can fit all years.
although no one should be buying a cheap stator for there blaster lol
