    low compression?

If you don't hone then new rings won't wear into the bore and you will never have proper compression. That's the whole point of breaking in a new engine. Also, make sure your head gasket isn't leaking.

thinking about a 400, any info?

yeah but the power just isnt there. he said he likes 450s. you will never like a 400ex. a z400 on the other hand with just an exhaust and a carb is an impressive machine, and still pretty impressive stock

    Hop-Up or Upgrade??

here ill support the other side of ur argument. i got rid of my blaster for a kfx400 havent regretted it even 1 bit. rides so much smoother. stock you just throw it into the corners and it doesnt even think of tipping. and the power is just so usable for the trails. i had to rebuild mine due...

Not sure on what atv to buy?

the method of valve adjustment has nothing to do with how the valves wear.lots of different engines use shim under bucket valves and it in no way makes it less reliable than rocker arms or more prone to drop valves. is it more of a pain to adjust the valves? yes. my point was that 450's are...

Not sure on what atv to buy?

i would seriously look into the z/kfx 400. you can find them in your price range easy. they are solid, reliable bikes with a healthy dose of power. its not quite 450 power. but close enough and the 400's power is much more usable in trails, you don't need to rev it out as much for power. also...

    polaris predator

make sure you sit on one and maybe try riding. it has kind of a ass up riding position. i didn't like it. i was surprised how many bikes i just didn't like the way they felt when i sat on them. i didn't like the 400ex either. seems like i only liked the z400 and the yamaha bikes. i ended up with...

    XJ550 Blaster

When you are saying true redline do you mean that's all that engine can run or do you mean that that is where stock redline is. Many aftermarket cdis will raise revlimits 1000 or more over stock so if 9600 is stock redline I could imagine It would pull 10000. Maybe not. Food for thought
