    Hard start after rebuild...??

So I had piston failure and had to send off my cylinder for boring and then I reassembled it. Now it won't start without a shot of starting fluid, but once it's starts it runs fine and will restart unless it cools back down. Before the piston broke it started pretty good, usually 2-4 kicks...

blaster wont start dont no why?

See if it trys to fire up with a small shot of starting fluid. If it does you know the problem is most likely in the carb or fuel system. If it doesn't even fire on starting fluid and you are sure you have a good spark then you have something bad wrong.

Need YOUR advise! Help me out!

you said you just want to get it running the cheapest fastest way possible, why can't you reuse the bad piston? I may have missed something in your post, but if you can clean it up and the ring grooves are free and will hold the rings it should run. If it was me I would consider that and at...

Blaster took a dump on me

if your throttle hung open the tors could have killed the spark and that's why it cut off. I don't think a loose head bolt made what you described happen. I guess if the exhaust ws loose at the head that explains the oil on the steering shaft.

    another blaster, another problem =(

if you are getting a good spark I would try a little starting fluid and see if it will at least fire. As for you cleaning the carb did you make sure all the passages were clear? At start up I think the low speed and and/or pilot jet passages are important because there isn't alot of air flowing...

2001 blaster wont start need some help

If you have a spark the ignition switch isn't the problem. But do you have a good spark? A weak spark will give you hard or no start sometimes. I would make sure you have the correct plug and a good spark, then try a little, I repeat a little, starting fluid. My last blaster project had the...

2001 blaster wont start need some help

Start with pulling the spark plug out of the head, reinstall the spark plug into the plug boot, hold it against the head and kick it over. The body has to make contact with the engine or frame to let the spark go thru the boot and plug. If you don't see a pretty bright spark you're screwed. Just...

how much do you think i can get for all this?

If it runs I would think $600 would be fair, heck I probably overpaid for one that didnt run for $500 last weekend, although all it needed was the carb cleaned and the correct spark plug..with all the extras I'm sure it's worth $600 PS I'm in Raleigh NC if you want help selling it....

    why a blaster

Inexpensive, tons of aftermarket and used parts, super fun to ride when dialed in, and nothing compares to a 2 stroke when it's running strong and set up properly

    blaster ?

I'm 6'1 and I think the blaster is ok, even though it's smaller it's also alot more inexpensive to get one. Sure a 400 or 250r are bigger but generally cost 2-3 times as much unless you get one that's ragged out... Also unless you have a tors removed I don't think you want to rejet with the...

    No spark!!!! Help asap!

just last night I was re-reading the section in the chilton (or is it haynes) manual where they cover testing the three coils on the stator. I think they are pulser/pick up coil, lighting coil and charge coil. Each one has it's own two colored wire plus the common ground. Each one has a specific...

Can a pipe make that much differnece?

Good point on the running lean, I need to check the plug asap. I had been wondering if it was running too good to be true and was going to blow up! It doesn't help that it's my kids blaster and he rides it pretty cautiously, but I get on it and ride it like it's stolen :D

Hey Nathan I see in your signature 2+ timing mod, is it worth it? Looks pretty simple from what I remember, don't you just slot the stator plate bolt holes like 3mm or something? So did you see much of a difference?

    Blown rear shock...

So I picked up a project Blaster, I think it's a 1998, and realize when I get it home the rear shock is blown, it bounces like crazy just sitting down on it. I know the 400ex rear shock will work with some modding, but will anything else work that may be more inexpensive? I have a growing list...

Can a pipe make that much differnece?

We bought a used '04 about two weeks ago that wouldnt' run right. Turns out it had a broken tors wire and after I fixed that it runs like a scalded dog. Now this is my 3rd blaster, the 1st one was junk and I was new to quads. The 2nd was stock and decent. Then I had a 400ex bored to 416, higher...
