How do you fix a kick start that doesn't engage gear.it returns to top, just doesn't tu rn engine over ...it used to work before had cover off....had apart 3 times, spring is on-the-job hole...things look fine...any help would be appreciated.

i just purchased a 2001, recently rebuilt problem im having:pulled in clutch, put it in gear and instantly stalled..clutch was working fine just 10 minutes before..now has nothing, clutch lever on case just free moving. Havent taken it apart yet, wanted to get some info before i tear in to it...
