" Anybody can trail ride the 1000 miles , but to be competative .... "
That's a quote from that Movie , I've watched it a thousand times and its just as good as the 1st time .
I've talked to many desert racers ( BITW Series ) and I still have it in my head to run the 1000 , and the biggest obstacle everyone has said ( Including Phragle ) is pit support . As a privateer you don't have the dedicated pit support that the factory or big money private teams have , so everything from a logistical stand point is exponentially harder . There are companies that you can pay to use their pit services so you have your fuel , tires , and mechanical support there , BUT they provide only so many stops , and if you have a break down out in the desert between pits , you won't have someone to come look for you. It's not something you would ever be able to do by yourself , I've got a few riding friends that also want to either run it , or help us by running our own pit crew . These days Mexico is a scary place , all the violence and murders by the cartels , it's just another thing you have to think about when going there .
I know my purpose for going wouldn't be to win overall , it would be for the experience , it would be for the memories and it would be for the challenge to see if I could build a bike that can finish , and also if this old guy could be able to walk the next day . I know I'd have about a hundred SD Cards and 3 Go Pro Cameras strapped to me and my Banshee so I had every second to be able to watch over and over again .
Maybe if theres anyone here on the forum that would like to start a serious discussion about putting together a team and support for it , we could start a topic and start kicking around Ideas and so forth . afterall nothing ever happends unless you do something about it.
