Backfiring

Today I went out to start up the Blaster to take it for a ride.
Thing was hard to start and when I did get it started it would not idle for crap and when I blip the trottle it would backfire trying to keep it running.

I did change the sparkplug the other day and it ran awesome.
So I put the old plug back in to see if it still backfired and it did.

It is pretty cold out here in Mass"30s" but never had a problem with it starting before in cold weather.

Anyone have any ideas what might be causing it to backfire or pop.

By what I read on some site on backfiring it could be a air\fuel mixure issue.
Does that sound correct??

Thanks ahead forum :)

Ok I will give that a shot.
I guess tommorow I will be feezing my ass of :(
PS...I see that Oldfart is having the same issue

Thanks

clean your carb, and get a small screwdriver (reg screwdriver, not phillips)
and start your blaster and while its idling, mess with ur air pilot screw (small one on the shifter side) turn it all way in (not really tight) and back it out 1 and a half turns or so.. and mess w/ it from there to find the spot where it idles correctly

Hmmm?

I've found that alot of the time backfiring is electrical. Not to say it can't be a carb issue, but, I'd check the electrical and check compression, too. If you have good compression, it's kinda more of an electrical issue.

My .02 anyway.

'course I'm in the middle of it myself....
