I know its been a long time since I asked a question here, you say you use Rotella T4 15-40 in everything. Could I use it in an polaris sportsman 800 efi big boss 6x6 that calls for 2w -50? I really dont want to spend 50 bucks on 2 qts and a filter. Whats up with the goofy numbers??

Got it.... it was in limp mode.. a quick reset and now revs out just fine!

UPDATE: got my last crucial part for the quad, it runs but spits through the carb when I give it gas. i gotta figure that out, but its coming together!

Im keeping this bad boy. If it takes 1500 to get it running so be it. I paid nothing for it!

UPDATE: Found a head at a reasonable price! Im presently peicing together this wreck of a bike I got for nothing.

Oh, by the way, heads are the same but rear cam is different. Looks like rear cam has a," raised radius along the face of the seating end". I trying to figure that out. Ive been staring at pics all morning and still cant figure it out.

Previous owner dropped a valve. The shop quoted a ridiculous price, and he started to strip the Atv so he could drag it to the scrapyard. I stopped him a little to late. The front jug, piston, carbs and alot of high $ items are lost forever. Luckily it cost me nothing to get the quad, but...

Another kawi owner said that cams are diff. I'm looking at a spec sheet and it gives only dimensions for one cam. (meaning the same cam used twice) He states the rear cam has a ring groove, the does not. I'm still investigating that. My model is the KVF 650.

2 Questions: If I were to change my tranny oil from Type F to lets say, Rotella 15-40, do I have to to pull the clutch pack, clean and resoak in new oil? Or can I just add the new oil? Thank you in advance for any responses. I thought I saw an answer on this forum, but cant seem to locate it...

All my K-n-N filters had a pinkish red oil sprayed over them as a "prefilter" , I guess to trap more contaminates! I just wipe it out and clean them. I dont oil anymore. Or, get rid of it and get a Uni filter. I dont know anything about them. Good luck!
