I'm looking around for a cylinder head and I keep seeing this brand. I don't know where it's made, does anyone use this brand or have any luck with them?

I picked up two free blasters 96' & 97' neglected and left outside. I'm cleaning them up and rebuilding them. just curious is there are any brands out there worth purchasing if needing a new cylinder that isn't 500$ I know niche got bad reviews. but what about blackhorse racing? anyone know...

I did not do a pressure / vacume test before i tore it apart. There is blue rtv on every surface the previous owner could put it on. The bottom of the engine and skid plate are COVERED in oily muddy gunk. The cylinder could be honed and re used, i think its aftermarket cylinder with "niche"...

ikr:eek: So I ended up swapping the cylinder for a new Niche. Praying it holds up. I honed the OEM but there was a little more wear than I expected for the stock bore size...a little piston slap chatter. So far the Niche has made it thru the heat cycles. Good compression and sounds great.

Have you checked trans level? Does it smoke a lot? Have you ever done a leak down test? Exhaust has to be sealed 100% at flange to cylinder and flange to pipe. Good possibility that the carb is junk, just like everything else Niche sells.

Can't make any money on a Blaster that's blown if they want $800 for it. Well maybe, with an eGay cylinder kit. But I don't want to support Niche even for a flipper. Do it right, or don't do it at all. Besides, what if it blows up during a test drive? Would never make any money :mad:

Ummmmm............ They're cheap for a reason. Scrap metal has little value. When you can get a cylinder, piston, gaskets and a carb for less than a Wiseco piston, that should tell you something :rolleyes: Quality doesn't cost, it pays !! :) Search Niche cylinders.

Im thinking the guy said it was a new top end, piston looks new I'm thinking he never broke it in. May the be a concern? You think I can put this back together until I order the Vito's big bore with 3 mm crank kit. It rips still, just has the top end vibration.

...this problem. PO said recently rebuilt top end. Now wondering if it might be a Nice cylinder and not oil problem. Or new piston old bore. Don't know how to ID a stock or Niche cylinder. I know Ken has a Utube vid on on stock, Vito's, CT, Airsal ID, but that was before junk cylinder came around.
