My aluminium ones are fine after about 4 hours hard riding, I'm in the process of replacing them with 4mm steel for peace of mind though, I'm also going 1/2 an inch narrower on each side because that's the size of the steel that I've got.

What base gasket are you using? is it stock thickness?

Does it still have the stock exhaust? Maybe the little cone inside came loose when you flipped it.

The 7075 T6 cost me nothing. All cutting, filing, de-burring etc was done by hand using a hacksaw and file, holes were drilled using an almost new drill bit and drill press, then reamed by hand. I used 7075 T6, I also showed the drawings to a few of the mechanical design engineers at work and they think they'll be plenty strong enough. I'll take my chances.

Well I finished making mine, I used 6mm thick aluminium instead of stainless steel because I had to make them by hand and ali is easier to work with. Thanks again for the drawings.

Thanks for posting these drawings, I just acquired a sheet of 3mm stainless steel today and I'm making a set myself.

Check the holes in your frame where the swingarm bolt goes through, these holes sometimes wear and become oval which throws the swingarm alignment out, which also throws the axle alignment out.

What is the advantage of the PVL system? I can see that the flywheel must be considerably lighter than stock but are there any other reasons to buy one?

Where abouts in UK are you? and how much for works front shocks? How much for plastics set?

I'm about 300ft asl, the largest jet I have is a 320, do you think this would be ok as a starting point? Here's a pic of the silencer.
