Why did my top end go?

Thank you everybody for the advice. Im going to put in bigger jets and do the plug chop thing. Also just to make sure, a bigger number on the jet means its bigger and will run rixher right? And a smaller number means the opposite

thats correct. higher # = richer

You're quite welcome... If you would have taken the advice given that YOU asked for you would be riding havin fun instead you gaffed everyone off and are worse off.... Expensive growing pain is all

If you are extremly lean, (mostly from AIR LEAK ) even though you may be warming it up proper (you think), the piston is expanding too fast/too much. Amd/or the clearance is wrong or the cylinder is tapered or out of wrong.

WHO measured the cylinder and piston?

Tho there're many types of members on here, none get away with wrong info.
Some are fanatics that care as much for their Blaster as their kids.
Some have been around the block a few times and hope to save someone a mistake ot three.

You can lead a horse to water,
But you can't make him drink.

The well of knowledge !!

Well it was determined to day by my local shop that my cylinder is too worn for a stock piston. So Im going to have it bored to the next size. And I made sure the machinist will chamfer the ports afterwards.

Do they have the piston ur gonna put in already?

This ^^^ is important. Due to manufacturing toleances they need it for final honing to get correct clearances.

Though I once used a new piston in an old hole, I would not recomend it, nor would I probably do it again.
My cyl (not a blaster)was less than half of run-out tolerances.

They should have told you this BEFORE they honed it the second time.....
Food for thought, I suggested you do this 1 day after you posted in this forum. How long ago was that, and how much money has been spent since then?

#2 - When doing a fresh top end it is highly suggested that you bore/hone it up to the next piston size. With these motors you can get many many bores out of the stock sleeve. Just replacing a worn out piston with a new one will most likely end up with this exact result.

You will most likely have to buy another piston and get it bored out by a REPUTABLE engine/machine shop.

Okay I had the cylinder bored to the next size up. (.020)
The borer did what seems like a very good job. He chamfered the ports and everything. I put it together with a bigger main jet in the carb and am planning on starting it today. Will let know how it goes.
Also!! I just have to change the main jet correct? I was told the pilot jet will only make a difference at idle speed, which the engine is almost never at. Is that correct or should I put in a bigger pilot too? Well I mean I know that's correct but how much difference is it actually going to make engine temperature wise?

Also should I run higher than 91 octane or lower? Or does that depend completely on compression?

OMG guys cmon. I dont own a leak down tester. I dont want to. There are NO air leaks. I am 100 percent positive. Now do I have to put a bigger pilot jet ib addition to the main jet?

Everytjing is sealed so tight air wont get in throught anywhere except the air filter for a thousand years.

Rebuilding top end: $130
Rebuilding again after not boring the cylinder: $130
Rebuilding a 3rd time after realizing that it needs bored out: $200
Not buying a $30 leak tester to help prevent yet another $130 rebuild: PRICELESS

And thanks to everybody else for letting me know how stupid I am that really helps a lot.
Really ? I told you early on that the piston to cylinder clearance was wrong...STUPID x 1.Now,If not testing for an air leak ...how can you be 100% there is not one ...that's STUPID x 2.

New gaskets and seals doesnt mean leak free!!! Leak test the darn thing or there will be an air leak and you'll be rebuilding your top end yet again stop being stupid!!!!
