raced my first 400ex and.....

he got me by a little lol its a 2004 with a exhaust, rejetted, no lid and he has a +1 front sprocket on it. i biffed my launch big time so i had major catch-up to do but if you look through the trees you can see how close we were then. we raced on the way back too and i was ahead by my bumper but of course the wife didnt get THAT one on tape lol :-[ im happy with how the machine performed i held it WIDE OPEN for a good ways and it still idled smooth as can be when i pulled back into my yard. before the road race we were doing short 300ft field drags and pretty much swapped wins back and forth. i know im still fat on my jetting (170 main 48 pilot) so i belive i still have a bit of power and speed to gain. at the very least it sounds saaaweet!!

eh, its a place to start lol. like i said i about stalled on the launch so he was way ahead of me but i was catchin him I:I, we kept going for a ways after that and if we didnt run out of room because there is a naaasty corner in the road i would have passed him. im going to try a 165 tomorrow and do a plug chop, seems like i could/should have climbed a few hundred rmp's higher. haha still fuuun as hell, it was my first quad on quad race with the new engine, a bone stock 400ex would have been easy, i wish my wife would have got the second run when i got a good launch on tape she said eh batteries died . i didnt even know she was filming at all, i was focused on the dirt road haha

well he thinks he is tough guy on it so i am going to see how tough that quad really is. he beat my cousins kfx400 and now he thinks he can beat anything. we`ll see

oh its great man, we kept going after she stopped the vid i hit 6th right when it cuts out, he probally got me by 2 blaster lengths. cant wait man, im hoping my buddie gets a trail machine up and running before then. that way he can lead us allll over the place.

baaaaaaahaha if you count our 300ft field drags its more like ex-7 noober-5. I:I if we would go from a rolling start i was gone but apparently i need more practice on launching from a standstill, these fastrekkers hook up so good i about flip haha I:I

haha no doubt!! launching in 2nd seemed to help but i had to get it just right or i had a little bog and he would pull on me then.

Wind that thing up in second then and let it snap. 2stroke = rpms. Oh and that 400ex didnt sound like it was winding too well either. my 99ex would wind up with my fmf on it.

oh yeah man, i nailed it a few times and it worked great! ive got the power just not the skills baaaahahahaha. we were not topped out yet, i hit 6th right when the vid stops. if i would of known the wife had the cam i would have sent her up the road further haha

yea i have to wind mine out in every gear for it to run balls to the wall, i mean i can short shift it but it dont go as fast then.......pretty much i have to ride my 426 just like a 2 stroke...i have to keep i wound up up because of the big cam

lol, my problem is launching :-[. when we would start from a roll i would win damn near every time, when we went from a standstill he got me. i hit 6th after the wife stopped filming and was still gainin but ran outta ground lol

launch in 2nd with the gas wide open and your weight up front.
It takes practice! I still fight my bike from hooking up at a launch... thats actually my sig pic lol.. a bad take off, then again I also have the stubby stock swinger
