The 490 sucks. Even in it's hayday it was a lemon.
Both of it's older siblings the yz465 and the yz400 (we won't count the it425) were better. The 490 has a rep for shaking and vibrating, being unable to be jetted right without a head remembering, and for some reason in the middle of it's lifespan Yamaha changed it from a 5 to a 4 speed, but then back to a 5 speed.
It belongs in a bike. When put in a quad it will rattle itself to pieces if you can stand riding it no matter what mounting system you try to think up.
Does that mean guys aren't gonna try anyway nope but thats the truth right there B)
A blaster kicker won't fit it- the kick start shaft on the 400, 425, 465, and 490 is a larger diameter then the blasty.
