Won't idle and hard to start. Help please.

So i bought it 02 blaster for 900 bucks been riding it some. I've noticed it won't idle even after the engine is warmed up. another thing is pretty much the only way to get it to start is to pull the intake off and hold my hand over the back of the carb. Other than those things it seems to run good. Also where could I learn about maintenance for it... kindve a newbie. Thanks!
Oh yeah what kind of oil do i run in the tranny? Everybody seems to have their own opinion lol.

Btw I'm running a k&n air filter with the airbox lid removed. That was the way it came. Also running lucas semi-synthetic two stroke oil mixed 40:1 with shell v-power.

32:1 is the preferred oil ratio to use, all jetting information on BF is based on that ratio.

definitely a reed valve problem. remove the carb, remove the 4 bolts holding the black boot and reed cage onto the engine and check your reed valve petals. I bet one of the them is broken! Use gasket silicone when replacing the boot, or you will have an airleak for sure.
