i believe there is a un-used bolt hole in the case behind the countershaft sprocket. is it possible for these to mount by also using that hole?

So this thang holds the chain down on the sprocket??

I thought they were some kind of ARMOR between the case and the sprocket to keep the chain from whipping into the clutch lever arm housing??
