what is the adjustment screw that is on the throttle cable near the rear shock do? It says on the parts diagram it's some type of switch?

It refers to the throttle over ride switch which cuts the spark if it senses the the throttle is stuck open.

The larde screw is the idle adjust.

Thank you..so the switch itself senses if the throttle is wide open and the big screw that is not on the carb but behind the tank near the top of rear shock mount is an idle adjustment? I was gonna mess with it but noticed fuel Petcock leaking so had to shut her down...friends bike

The tors system utilizes a switch in the thumb throttle housing and another in the tors housing to constantly compare values, therefore it turns on rev limiter if they Do Not coencide with each other at all times of operation. Stuck throttle situations cause accidents! Tors prevents this situation supposedly by engaging the rev limiter

If you do not follow manufacturers adjustment procedures you will cause system to be not effective plus you can cause he rev limiter to be active at the wrong time causing multiple drivability symptoms( like won't run ) above idle, stalling, zero throttle response , hesitation, flooding, even no starting condition

Do you know where the adjustment procedures would be

The proper free travel is 4-6 mm on the upper thumb control switch , this allows the switch to actually change states on to off/ closed to open< before the tors switch changes state< open to closed> off to on. See in electrical troubleshooting ignition flow chart, which is already posted with the correct values.
