I can't find it, but I thought I had read on here about how to remove a shift shaft without pulling the clutch basket....???

Its do able, i did mine before i blew up my motor. I found it easier to remove the cluth basket. The only reason was because it made a little more room to work on. Soneone else may chime on on how to do it without removing the clutch basket

I had to remove my clutch basket, seems like the cam on the end that works the shift star would get caught behind the basket if you don't remove it. And it doesn't seem like there was much room to rotate it up. Easier is better, I get frustrated easily and I've read you're not supposed to use a hammer. MEH! Go figure. :D

Yeah, its just alot of work to do it without removing the basket. You really have to have patience to do it without removing the basket. I think it took me an hour and a half to do mine, and was back out riding right afterwards. Just dont forget to put tranny oil back in!!!! I:I
