Reed spacer placement

this may have been asked before but...
does anything change (pros/cons) with the placement of a reed spacer? for instance, i have mine closest to the intake port, then the reeds... but would there be any change if i had the spacer after my reeds, closer to the carb?

always wondered that.

Putting the spacer between the reeds and the engine moves the powerband lower to improve bottom end HP. The thicker it is the lower it move the powerband.

Putting the spacer after the reeds and moving the manifold back moves the powerband higher and helps to improve the mid-range and top end power. The farther back the manifold is the higher up it moves the power band.
