question about hydraulic fluid

i just got the hydraulic conversion kit for my wife's quad. can i use just any DOT approved brake fluid? i also have some Shimano Hydraulic Mineral Oil from the hydraulic brakes for my mountain bikes, would that work?

It should say DOT 3 or 4 or similar.

dude, this brake kit sucks. i'm sure the brakes themselves work, but it came with no mounting hardware (bolts, nuts, washers), miniman instructions, and so far i have ground off the brake cable mount on the frame, and a bit of weld/frame to get anything resembling extension of the brake pedal. grr. i had to come in and take a break before i started hacking out entire sections of the frame. (jokes.. )
