New front brake pads

I recently got some new front brake pads/shoes and I can't get them to fit back into the hub. I undid all the tension in the cable and the thing that turns and actually presses the shoes is in the normal position. So how do I get them to fit back in?

Maybe a pic would help? I'm drawing a blank. So far it sounds like you are doing it right.
