So I took the toes system off cause I switch to twist throttle an it fire up after 2 kicks then it was reving high I got scared an killed it. Then I tried to restart it an it wouldn't start I sprayed ethanol the works. So I waited till the next day after work an it started after 2 kicks an I treys f*cking with the air screw but it died seconds to a minute later. Then I tried to start it again wouldn't start l. So I Waite till next day (today) started up stayed running as long as I kept a little pressure on throttle when I would let off it would want to die. So I cleaned the carb took it apart used ethanol an air compressor an treys to start it would start. It sounds like it wants to but just won't fire. I need help I'm going to wait till tomorrow to try to start when I get off unless someone can help before 9-10 E.T. Thanks

sooo you did tap a idle screw on the side of carb?
was it a kit with top cover and idle screw??
carb slide is opening and closing properly?

my carb already had a screw to adjust the air flow in going to take a pic an. Send it I got the motion pro twist throttle kit. It came with replacements like a new screw a new jet needle cap spring cable ect. Slide opens up all the way an closes all the way to the bottom. There's a little gap cause the slide has an arc at the bottom. Compression is good when I kick it I'll send pic

thats the air mixture screw for the pilot jet circut shown in your pic above, not an idle screw.

you need to drill and tap the boss to the front side of the fuel inlet and install an idle screw.
info and pics here........

the brass screw shown in your pic above needs set at 1.5 turns out to start, then tuned for highest idle like this......

I just want to kno why do I need to tap the idle screw?

I just want to kno why do I need to tap the idle screw?

because the original idle screw was in the "TORS" brick you deleted and replaced with a regular carb cap.
now that carb has no idle screw at all, (although it has a blocked off boss built into it for an idle screw when used on non tors applications)
it must have one to open the slide enough to even idle and regulate the idle rpm's.

here's a kit that includes the screw, retaining nut, and drill/tap needed
http://www.vitosperformance.com/atv_parts/product.php?productid=105&cat=226&page=1

you can also find idle screws on ebay, and supply your own drill/tap (metric, M6 I believe and matching metric drill bit)
I prefer this type with the spring, as it allows adjustment without the use of a wrench to "jamb" the nut, and will not come loose like the jamb nut style does/can...............

If the slide is all the way down inside the carb, it will prevent you from starting the bike. If you have spark and fuel but no air, it won't start. You can slightly twist the throttle while kicking. If it starts, that's your issue.

Yes it will keep it from starting. an idle screw is a NECESSITY not a recommendation.

Amazing, all the right pieces in the right adjustment, and things work as they should.

Try starting it with about 1/8 throttle.

I could tell you how to do it without an idle screw, but then i'd have to kill you. Plus I'd get flamed.

i'll tell you NOT!! lol unless you like a right turn or left turn idle increasement when you turn.
either put it back to "stock" or drill/tap the idle screw

I mean if you really don't want to drill and tap yours for some reason. ( takes 10 mins and everything comes in the kit) you could get a carb on eBay already done. I would throw away the inline filter that comes on them and jet it for your mods when you get it.

Honestly though it would be a waste of money. Someone did a write up on here on doing the idle screw you should check it out.

Ya I mean I was just wonder since I got a bunch of sh*t done to it an I always thought about getting a bigger carb but ya it no one think I should I probably will just order the kit. Also someone put a link of the demonstration of how to tap the idler screw. So I guess I'll just do that thanks

Also what about an extended swing arm I really wanna do that Maybe 2-3" should I cut an weld spacers on it or should I just buy one? I plan on doing a lot but I need to get it started an running first lol but does anyone have any cheap good ideas?
