low compression and such

so i checked my compression today and i am only getting 60 psi. the engine seems very easy to kick over and when i kick it there is a whooshing sound almost like its coming back through the air intake.

Any thoughts? :-/

Time to rebuild!

The point of rebuild is about 100. 120 is good.

Did you hold the throttle wide open and kicked it till the needle stopped rising ? I would also check the reeds to see how they look.

it has brand new reeds in it...
i kicked it about 5-6 times and it rose very slowly. also had throttle open.

They may be new but did you check them anyways ?

yes they are seated fine

Maybe you have a air leak or rings are fried I'm having the same problem I'm replacing my gaskets now so we will see how it feels need to pick up some case bond

i think i might have a leak.this things is old and hasnt been taken to well care of, and it never ran quite right when i got it

With 60psi you need to rebuild. Leak test is a good idea, but unless you are missing half the head nuts, i doubt it would affect it that much

i plan on tearing it apart here soon to asses the damage.
