i painted mine. it is all in the prep work.
first i look at some porn and drink some beer to relax while i let the garage heat up. no one likes to work in the cold and paint doesn't like to stick in the cold.
once warmed up, i start with sanding the plastic. start out with 400grit and work to 1000 or 1500 grit. this is wet sanding, i usually wet sand with warm water and a drop of soap, helps out. once all the scratches are out, i wash the plastic. once dry, i use a scuff pad to get it ready for the primer. i use bulldog adhesive promoter. i let it dry overnight.
next morning, i reheat the garage and go throught the beer and porn again to relax.
once garage is heated, i start painting. i used kyrlon fusion paint, but if you have the money and ability to use car paint and a paint gun do it. i spray light layers of paint and allow the paint to dry before i put the next layer on. i do 5-6 light coats before i wet sand again with 1500. after sanding, i will do 3-4 more light coats. then i do a light wet sanding. then it is time to clear. i will do 3-4 light coats of clear, wet sand again, then 2-3 more layers of clear. let it dry overnight. next morning, it should look good.
